我很热衷于教学,也很享受教授学生知识的过程。当学生的分数提高,通过我的课堂学到很多知识时,我会很开心,希望可以一直教他们更多的东西。
My name is Ryan Daniels. I am a graduate of North Dakota State University, in the United States, where I received my bachelor’s degree in History. I have two and a half years of experience teaching and tutoring English as a second language and History to all ages. I first started teaching in the United States in 2014 at an English academy in San Francisco, California, as well as provided private English, TOEFL, and History subject tutoring to foreign students mostly from Asia. I provided private tutoring to many foreign students attending university and studying in the United States, and also taught classes to them at the English academy. A year later I then moved to China and started teaching full-time in Shanghai. I taught English at High Class English Training Center, and did one-on-one English tutoring for an agency called LinguaTutor.
I have numerous teaching methods, which I customize and custom-tailor for each of my students. I like to lecture, present pictures or flashcards on the white board, or use present power point PPT presentations about topics, but I also engage my students, and have them participate in active discussions, readings, or fun activities related to the topic. I like to encourage group readings and group discussions and activities amongst my students, to make sure they are familiar with the material and get to know each other and me, the teacher. I like to ensure that my students thoroughly learn about the topic and material they are studying, but I also want to make sure that they are enjoying the learning process at the same time. Some students are unique and different, and learn differently. Some thrive through reading and seeing the material, some thrive through hearing the material, while others thrive on writing out the material and topics. Above all, I like to keep the class interesting and fun. I want to make the student desire to come back and learn more, or become more involved in learning the topics or whatever else interests him or her. I believe this is the key to teaching well and adequately.
With these teaching methods, I have improved students’ knowledge about the subjects I teach to them and helped them to achieve great results. One student of mine who had planned to enter university in the United States was able to score a 115 on the TOEFL test, even though she used to struggle with English.
I immensely enjoy teaching and living in China, and improving my students’ knowledge. I enjoy helping them to learn more about the subjects I teach. It brings me great satisfaction and joy in knowing that I helped a student pass a test or complete an exam, or score a high grade. I enjoy what I teach and when I’m teaching it in the classroom. I hope to continue to teach in Shenzhen for many years to come.
